I started MY journey with Pilates in 1993, traveling international borders every week to work with someone who taught the method so I could improve MY awkward body's posture and breathing to recover from vocal problems I had been having as an amateur singer. A large part of my vocal training involved bodywork in school-including elements from Alexander and Feldenkrais techniques. Pilates upped the ante-demanding more than just movement and posture. It was incredibly challenging and helped me fully realize the potential my body had to do things I didn't think a body like mine could do in the dance studio, on stage, in the gym or even in a triathalon! Moving to Chicago in 1996, I began an apprenticeship to learn more about teaching Pilates and in 1999 earned MY comprehensive Pilates certification-requiring more than 500 hours of observation, course work, practice and practice teaching. I continued to teach in Chicago and helped to start one of the first in-house fully equipped health club Pilates studios in the city. Relocating to Los Angeles in 2001, I was honored to work under second generation Pilates master Jillian Hessel at her Well-Tempered Workout studio in West Hollywood and ALSO got on board with Power Pilates to launch their first west coast studio in Pasadena at Equinox. In 2004, I founded Facets PILATES in order to continue providing my established private clients classical Pilates training in the studio tradition. I have enjoyed conducting Pilates workshops across the country and have also been a guest instructor at Rancho La Puerta spa in Tecate, Baja Mexico. Currently, I'm now both a Classical and MVe Peak Pilates® Master Instructor, providing Pilates education programming for individuals seeking Classical Pilates Teacher Training and continuing education All over the world. For over 20 years, I have been a First Aid/CPR instructor for the American Heart Association and volunteer instructor for the American Red Cross. Through the Pilates Method Alliance, I am a Certified Pilates Teacher and member. With a multi-faceted education and fitness background, I truly strive to educate My clients on how to improve their posture and and day-to-day function through Mr.Pilates' timeless system of movement.
